A gentleman was trying to talk with t neigMfcoring town the other day over the long-distance 'phone, and was seeking a little information that was current on the street of the town. Could anybody be found who would go out and piek it up? The young man at the distant 'phone was disinelined to accointnodate without stating the reason why, ïnd finally the help of Utiea "Tollboard" was implored. The conversation between "ïoll-board" and the distant town was quite interesting, aejording to the Observer. "Just step aut on the street," she told him, "and ask the first man or woman you meet." "I can't," he replied, "as there is no sne here to watch the store." "Oh, is that all," said "Toll-board. " "Well, you run right along and 111 tvatch the store for you." The young man went and "Tollboard" kept her word by keeping her sar to the reeeiver at Utica, forty miles Erom the scène.
