WIth active work a series of lectures coulil be planned for, to be given liere, by the professors of the institution on subjects of general interest. It has always been a subject of reniark, and also one of gieat regret by irominent iluiiini because of the indctivity of the alumni of our state institution, and it has only been within he past few years that they have in dny way become active. There are more living graduates of "Michigan" than of any other American college, et there are fewer alumni associations. While numbering twice the graduates of Harvard, there are about one-half as many associations. In Michigan there are a number of active organiza;ions that have done much toward making Michigan's University what it is, the largest and best known institution of America. Detroit has an especially active association, Grand Rapids ;raduates are organized, as are also all ;he graduates in the upper península.
