I observed in a recent issue of your paper an artille signed "Tai Payer," advocatdng the establishment of Schools of Theology In connection with the various denominations and suggesting an appropriation of monf y by ihe town to r.i.1 in the enterprise Tïiis may be well enough, although t does üteem a Httle prosumiiig to ask :he city to foster denomiaiational schools. Have your readers ever tdiought that the saloon is the only place in Uvi.s towm where a man. can drop in to real tlie paper and spend a few moments in relaxation, outside of his place of buisiness ? Is it not wortli the attention of this town to provide a comfortable, attractive, room, wbere our business men, young and old, may meet without feel'ing tlhe degrading influences of tibe sialoon ? Is not th-is an interost whjch appeals to every cliurch, and every person who oares.for tilie welfare of this town ? Let lis begin nearer home. We furns'h our children 'with 6Chool advantaiges and ilistruction in the evil effects of alcohol, but we leave them there to drift into tlhe saloon, or hang around on fhe street corner, 'in their leisure' moments.
