The final concert in this series, to be priven "Wpdncsday evenlng, May 31, isii:!, wHl be the most notable musical erent in the htatory of the art in the state. The "Damnation of Faust" was a great achievement, but the production of a whole act of Ixthragrln, as well as the perfoemance of a whole cene from the Flylng Dutchman, makes this final concert even more notoworthy. The Rienzi Overture with whlch the concert opens, is a brilliant concert number full of rhythmic swing, and breadtli of melodie invention. This is his earliest work of importance. In it he adheres to the old style of overtnro. The Bptanlng Chorus from the I"lv ing Dutchman, now follows. It wMl be jriveji in its entiroty, loadinp into the fnmous bailad for Tienta, in which she relate tlip thrillins story of the doomed seaman, and announces her fixed determination to rescue hiim by sacrificinp; herself. Then comes the beautiful duet betweenLen1a and the Dutchman. This is a superb piece of melodie wrlting. The Prelude to Ixhenprrin gives the kpynoto to the numtxrs which now follow. Tlie dramatic force of the first act of 'IiOhengrln always appeals to an audience, and performcd ns it â– will be in an adequate manner, it can not fail of it effect. This act contains somc beautiful solos, insplrins choruses and most boautiful orfliiMitration. Tlie -'l'.ridal Chorus," in the 3d act will be ffiven, as well as the maren to the minister, for orcbestra and chorus. Thp concert will close witli the MetateraiBger Prelude for orchestra.
