A Good Dog Story

A Harleni family no going to Europe left their house in charge of an old man who was to look after it daring the absence of the family. They also left behind theiu a large Jog. There was au arin cliair in the back room in wliich the dog frequentlv took a nap. Tlie old man also found the chair very comfortable, but au he did not teel like taking any risk he resorted to strategy. He would go to the window and inew like a cat. ïlie dog would then juinp out of the chair and rush to the window to bark at the cat, whereupon the old gentleman would quietly take possessiou of the chair. One day when the old gentleman was in the chair the dog came Luto the rooin. Taking in the situation, he put ttia four paws on the window t-ill and barked furiously. The old gentleman, thinking there was gomehody ih the yard, got out oí the chair hurriedly and went to the window to see who was in tlie yard, whereupou the dog juinped nto the chair oud kept posBOSsion oí it, L'iiiw linr oiniiiously whenever the old man came near him. There was nobody at all in the yard.
