On rnotion the bids tor hard biirnt brick were opened and inspected. The bida were found to be as follows: A un Arbor 15rick Company, $6.25 per thousaiul f. o. b. cara at Ann Arbor. A. Wagoer & 8on, Dearborn, Mich., on board tlie cars at Dearborn at $4 75 Ier thoHsand. Win, Slayton, Dundee, Micli., $5.00 per tbousand f', o. b. at Ann Arbor. The Findlay Hydraulic Press Brick Company, Toledo, ()., 86.80 per thousand f. o. b. cars at Ann Arbor. Mr. Keecli moved that the respective bids for hard burnt bricks be transmitted to the Council with mer.dation tliat the bid ot the Aim Aun Albor Urick Company, at the sum of $6 2ó per thousand brick, f. o. b. cars atAnn Arhor, be accepted. Adopted as follows: Yeas- Messrs. Keech, Schub and Mclntyre. The sewer committee of the Council being present, the matter of purchasing 600 i'eet of 24 inch cast iron pipe was discussed at length, and it was the sense of the meeting that iron pipe must be used where the sewer runs aloug the river, and where it is liable to be exposed to the frost. Mr. Keech moved that it is the sense of this meeting that iron pipe should be used in the construction of the main sewer; that the matter be left witli Mr. Schuh and the Engineer, to purcliase sucli iron pipes as are wanted in the said construction of the main sewer. Adopted as follows: Yeas- Messrs. Keech, Schuh and Mclntyre. On motion the Board adjourned. W. J. Milleu, Clerk. Office of the Board of Public Works, I Ann Abbor, Sept. i:t, 1868. Regular meeting. Called to order by President Keech. Koll called. Full Board present. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. On motion, the bids lor two cars of Portland cement were opened and inspected. There were nine bids for imported and American Portland cements. Mr. Schuh moved that the' respective bids for cement be transmitted to the Council with recommendation that the bid of Louis Rohde, for "Buckeye American Portland Cement" in burlap sacks, $2.23 per bbl., 380 lbs. net, (4 bags to bbl.), f . o. b. Ann Arbor, be accepted. Yeas- Messrs. Keech, Schuh and Mclntyre. Mr. Schub moved that the offers and samples for jack-screws for sewer ditching be transmitted to the Council with recommendation that the offer of the Kalamazoo Foundery & Machine Co., for 120 screws, be acceptd. Yeas - Messrs. Keech, Schuh and Mclntyre. Following bids were received for man-holes and coversSouth Bend, Foundery Co. agrees to furnish f. o. b. cars at Ann Arbor, man-hole and cover, weight about 425 lbs. for $5.40 each. Ann Arbor Engine and Boiler Works agrees to furnish man-hole and cover, any pattern as may be approved by City Engineer at two (2) cents per lb. McCullough Bros., Ypsilanti, Mich., agrees to make man-holes and covers as per pattern submitted, at $1.90 per 100 lbs., f. o. b. cars Ann Arbor.
