MlTOB'e Office, December Oth, 1898 i To the Honorable, the Common Council: Gbntuemxn: I have disapproved of soinuch of the report of the Finalice Committee made to the Council on the 4th instant as allowed Christian Brenner pay for nine days as special policeman. Mr. Brenner was appointed for three days; by mistake he served nine days under the impression that he sliould be notiried that his time had expired. The city is noi responsible, as the appointment is written out plainly for three days. I regret that the mistake should have occurred. B. M. Thompson, Mayor. Clerk Miller reported that President Watts had appointed the following Relief Committee: Messrs. A. L. Noble, H. J. Brown, James O. St. Clair, J. V. Sheehan, and Poor Superintendent Sipley, to carry out the recommendations of II is Honor the Mayor, as adopted by the Council at the last meeting. MOTIONS AND RE8OLUTIONB. By Aid. Wood: Resolved, That the Mayor and City Clerk be and are directed to sign and issue the $30.000 Main Sewer Bonds. and deposit them witli the City Treasuier. taking his reoeipt therefor; said bonds to be of the denomination of $-300 each, aml payabie w.ono annually, and to draw interest at tbe vate of live per cent per annum. Manly: Resolved, Tbat the Mayor be and is hereby authorized and erapowered to appoint, lor Uit; term of ene year, tliree competent pereons to act as special policemen for tlie purpose of goarding the propertj and conserving the peace at the Grand Opera'House in tliis city, sncli policemen, however, to perform sucli service without costs to the city, and also the city to be without liability lor uny neglect of duty on their part. Adopted. By Aid. Wagner: Resolved, That the Board of Public Works are hereby empowered to pinchase from S. Wood & Co. 2,000 feet of six-ncli drain pipe at 85 per cent off from price list. Adopted as follows: Yeas- Aid. Schairer, Wagner, Snow, Wood, ïavlor, Manly, Pres. Watts- 7. Nays- None. By Aid. Manly: Resolved, That Rule No. 21 be su?Dended, that the Street Cominissioner be and is hereby instructed to make out all bilis for labor on Sewer twice a month, and certify the same to this Council for lts consideration at any regular meeting thereof. Adopted as follows: Yeas - Aid. Schairer, Wagner, Snow, Wood, Taylor, Manly, Pres. Watts- 7. Nays- None. By Aid. Schairer: Resolved, That the Fiuance üommittee be directed in the case of Airs. Kenny vs. The City, to see. what would be the least sum of money to compromise said case, and report to this Council. Adopted ns follows: Yeas- Aid. Schairer. Wagner, Wood, Taylor, Manly, Pres. Watts- (i Nays- None. AM. Snow refused to vote. On motion the Council adjourned.
