To the Honorable the Commou Council: The Board of Public Works beg leave to subniit tlie followiuj; report of lts doings in the matter of procurfug the riitht ofwayover the Toledo, Ann Arbor A: North Michigan Raihvay'a property. At the meeting of tlie Board, held January lOth, 1S94, General Supt. Ashley and Chief Kugineer KigK were present by'request of the Board, and tlie matter of rightof way for the main sewer was discussed. Mr. Ashley stated that the road was willini; to give the city the riiïht of way for the maiu sewer on condition the rallroad corapany be granted permission to cross First and William streets with spur track along First street, the said track to be built six feet froin the property line along First street, the ('oinpany doing all necessary grading and filliug in between said track and road bed. Agreetng to also build a sidewalk 16 feet in width which eau be used for trucks and drays to discharge and receive freight. All things cousidered, we recommend that the proposition of Mr. Ashley be accepted and that the city attorney draw up the uecessary contract. By order of Board of Public Works. WILLIAM J. Martin moved as an amendment to accept aud adopt the recommendatious made, and city attorney is hereby directed to draw up necessary contract with said Railway Oömpany. The original motion as amended prevailed as follows : Yeas - Aids. Schairer, Martin, Snow, Wood, Ferguson, Taylor, Mauly, Kitson, Pres. Watts. - 9. isays - Aid. Herz. - 1 A claim and doctor's certifícate of Gottfried Schuon, of the city of Aun Arbor, setting forth that on the lstday of January, 1894, he received an injury to his right forearm while working in sewer trench, and that he is willing to accept by way of compromise, the sum of $18.00 for time lost and doctor's bi 11. Aid. Ferguson moved that the matter be referred to Finance Committee aud City Attorney for report. Aid. Manly moved as an amendment that the claim be referred to Board of Public Works for investigation and report to this Oouncil. Adopted. The yeas and nays being calledon the original motiou as amended, prevailed as follows : Yeas - Aids. Schairer, Herz, Snow, Wood, Ferguson, Taylor, Manly, Kitson, Pres. Watts- il. Nays- Aid. Martin- 1. The clerk reported that Mr. Fred Steeb had given notice that he wished o withdraw his name as oue of the sureties on liquor dealers' bonds of Wal.er & Knapp. Referred to Bond Committee. The Clerk read numerous answers to lis circular letters which he had received from the following city clerks : iay City, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, 'lint, Muskegou, Jackson, Grond ïapids, Marshall, Adrián, and Ypsianti, as to prices paid by them; algo ïow they burn, etc, which letters were all referred to Lighting Committee.
