A poor womao wbose face was wan and pinched, went into a big Main street grocery store the other day and looked aroxind curiously. She was poorly drcssed aiid liad a tattercil shawl over her liead. Aíter walking all through the store she approached a counter and asked: "Wliere are the canned goods ?" The clerk directed her to the counter and she walked over. "What eau I do íor you, madam ?" asked the clerk who had charge of that department. "Have you auy canned lobster ?" she asked. "Hiow much is ít ?" She was told the price. She looked at a slip oï paper Bhe had iu her hand and paused for a moment. Tlxen she said : "I will take four eaus." The clerk got down four cana of the best lobstere and wrapped them up íor her. The woman stowed them away under her shawl and gave the clerk in payment an order trom one of the charitable soeieties for $1.00 worth of groceries. The elerk was dU'iniounded.
