Minutes of the previous meeting reád and approved. President stated that the flrst order oí business was to elect a president of the board for the ensuing year. On motion the board proceeded to the election of a presiden!. First ballot: Thomas J. Keech 1 J. F. Sclmli 2 Mr. Schuh declined the honor of acting as president. Second ballot: J. F. Schuh 1 ï. J. Keech 2 Mr. Keech was declared elected president for tlie ensuing year. The PetersoD walk on Liberty street, south side, between Fourth and Fifth avenues, was reported by Mr. Schuh as being very much out of repair, and tliat Mr. Petersoh wished the city wouid build it. Rel'erred to Mr. Schuh City Attorney and the Street Conimiisioner. On motion the bids for the constraciion of the ends of the culvert on Fountain street were opened and inspected. John Mahlke, $277.00; Koeh Bros., $258.00. Mr. Schuh moved that the respective bids be transmitted to the Council. with ecommendation that the bid of Koch Bros., for building extentions to culvert on Fountain street be accepted. Adopted as folio ws: Yeas- Messrs. Schuh, Keech aud Clark. The Sidewalk Inspector reporte d that he had personally iuspected the sidewalks which had not as yet been constructed: on Packard street and Fourth Ave., in front of the property of Jacob Wahl; on Thompsou street, n front of the property of Joe Wiliams;onllill street, in front of the property of ïïm. W. White, Wm. B. Stickney, Prof. J. B, Davis, D. F. Schairer, Andrew Ziegler, Joha F. Liawrence, Misses Susan E. and Bertha D. Ilill; on Summit street in front of the pioperty of S. Meyers, Daniel liscock, Geo. E. Darrow and ïhe íationa) Home Insurance Co.; on W. Huron street, in front of the property of Garitón M. Edmunds and N. B. Covert; on Thirteenth street, in front of the property of Mrs. Thomas J. Keating; on Miller avenue, in front of the property of Miss Clara A. Gott, Mrs. Christine Gerstner, John A. Freeman and the estáte of James Moloy; on Seventh street, in front of the property of John Mayer, Juliua Weinberg, Jacob Stadel, H. C. Markham, Andrew Hiller, August Killer, Harvey Banister, John Braunmiller, John Sehloupe, and F. A. Howlett. On motion the report was received and ordered filed, and the Street Commissioner was ordered to take the necessary steps to build the walks. The City Engineer submitted the following grades for sidewalks: On the east and west sides of öth street, from Jefferson to Liberty streets on E. Catharine street, south side, from Ingalls to Thirteenth streets, on 4th avenue, west side, from Liberty to Packard streets. On motion of Mr. Keech the grades were approved and recommended to the council for adoption, excepting tha 5th street grades, which were referred to Aid. Martin and the engi neer. Mr. Schuh moved that the board recommend to the council that estimates be asked from engineers for drawing a map of the entire city which shall show all grades, monuments and also show line of sewers, water and gas mains, on a scale of one-fourth inch to the rod, the same to be completed in one year from the date of contract, said engineer also to do áll necessary regular work as shall be required of him by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Mr. Schiappacasse made complaint concerning the change of the water course on Gott street. The matter was referred to Mr. Clark and the Street Commissioner. Mr. Burk appeared before the Board and made inquines as to the change of sidewalk grade on the south side of Kingsley street, between State and División streets. Beferred to Mr. Clark and Street Commissioner. Mr. Keam, from Baldwin avenue, asked to have some necessary grading done on said avenue, so that the same may be made passable for public travel. Ref erred to Mr. Keech and the Chairmau of the Comniittee on Streets. Mr. Schuh moved that Mr. J. Rogers be allowed to cut down and trim such shade trees as are necessary under the direction of the Street Commissioner. Adopted as follows: Yeas - Messrs. Keech. Schuh and Clark. Mi1. Orcutt présenter! a bilí 'for sinking a well on his property, on account of the sewers draining an old well. The bill was received and 81ed. The Clerk was directed to cause sidewalk notices to be served, according to "An Ordinance Relative to Sidewalks," on the property owners vvho were ordered by the Common Council to bui ld walks. The building of the, Peterson walk, Jjioerty street. was rererrea to uie Jity Attorney and Mr. Schnh. The matter of chaiiging water course near tlie Kyer Milling Co., was ret'ei-red to Mr. Clark and the Street Comoüssioner. The Board ordered the Street Commissioner to build a cement crosswaik on Iluron street, north side, across State street; Iluron street, north and south sides, across Thayer street; Ann street, north side, across Fourth avenue; Thayer street, east side, across Washington street; Washington street, north side, across Thayer street; Fourth avenue, east side, across Liberty street; Liberty street, south side, across Fourth avenue. On motion the Board adiourned. Clerk.
