Mr. H. J. Brown received the following letter Wednesday. It explains itself: Fairport, O., July 3, 1894. H. J. Brown, Ann Arbor, Mich. Dear Sir. - Friday, June 29, the coroner of this (Lake) county received information that the body of an unknown man had been found in the woods 2% miles northeast of Painesville, the county seat of this county. The fellow had evidently attempted death by the chloroform route as two bottles which had contained chloroform were found upon the ground a few feet from his head. One bottle - a small, 2 oz. Philadelphia oval - had your name "H. J. Brown, Ann Arbor, Mich.," blown an the flat plain side. ■ The other bottle was a 4 oz. oval, with the firm name "A. E. Mummery, Pharmaceutical Chemist, Ann Arbor, Mish.," blown in the glass. There was nothing about the person to identify him consequently I write you and Mr. Mummery for assistance, if you can render any. The man was of medium height. The features, etc., were too much obliterated by decomposition to give any scription. He wore a sack. coat of grey color, rather rough goods, straw hat with a black band and black cord to fasten into coat. Had a silk umbrella, black ribbed pants and good shoes. White shirt and found two white collars - standing collars, open in front. The laundry mark on the collars having been effaced. Telescope sample case of drab canvas and two straps extending around it. Rand, McNally railway guide. Chicago Inter-Ocean of June 6. box blacking, blacking brush, comb, round mirror about four inches in diameter. He had improvised an ingenious inhaler, a pint Mason fruit can into the cover of which was made an opening, into this was fltted about four feet of rubber hose or tubing, the other end was connected to a coffee pot like inhaler so made to hold a sponga in the bottom, the spout so located to cover the nose when used and a flat, black rubber band to hold the article upon the head when in use. This was evidently a failure as he had taken lus life with a 32 calibre "American Buil Dog" revolver. If you can give me any information please do so, if not turn this letter over to your best papr that by publication the fact may reach some person who knows something about it or the smith who made the inhaler. Verv resnectfully, Fairport Harbor, Lake County, -Daily Tiancs. Oliio.
