The Young People's Societies of the city will unite during the month of August, services to be held in the church selected for the uuion evening services. The meetings will begin at 6:30. A cordial invitation is extended to all. The following topics and leaders have been chosen : Aug. 5.- Componionship with Jesus. Acts, 4:13. Mr. Wm. Huil. Aug. 12.- Am I NeeUed? Matt. 9 :35-38. Mr. Geo. Stimson. Aug 19.- The World for Christ. I. Cor. 15:24,25. Miss Wier. Aug. 26. Cousecration Meeting. Jonnl5:l11. Mr. J. A. C. Hildner. - The cali for a republican convention tor this congressional district will be found in another column. It is held at Adrián, as usual, on Thursday, Aug. 16. It seerns a little strange that Adrián should capture this prize so often. We cannot account for it on any other theory than that the politicians over there are so persuasive and sweet that no one can resist their argumenta. It takes a whole day to get to Adrián from almost any 'part of the district, and a whole day to get away, consequently it is the most inconvenient point to be found in the entire district. An act of secession will be passed by the people over here before long if there isn't a let up on the sameness in the place of holding our congressional convention. Since years, upholstering and making over parlor furniture has been rny great specialty. To fill up time and keep all my help busy during the dull siunmer months, I have decided to do upholstery work at greatly reduced prices for the next sixty days. If you wish to have any work done let rne know and I will make you an estímate.
