Ann Arbor is about the only city in ie stat of any importance that has not license law for dogs. Such a law hould require a license of $1 per year or each and every dog. and when the cense is first issued the city clerk or ïty treasurer, whichever collects the cense, furnishes acollar and huihIm r br 25 or 50 cents extra, and any canine ounc without this collar of number is mniediately disposed of. This is the nly just way of levying a tax on ttogs, nd the nnly effective way, íor if a man as an animal that he values, he will rocure the necessary license, and the ity be that much ahead. If the dog s of no valué he will be killed and the ity be rid of a nuisance. Some cities eálize a revenue of $1,500 to $2,000 by his means. The coming legislature hould pass an act of that kind for Ann Arbor. There is one family in this city which has been supported íor the past year or more from the poor fund, that keeps three dogs, so we have been told.
