Nearly 150 tickets were sold for Whltmore Lake yesterda-y and all the available vehicles were taken out of the livery barns. BesMes the Ann Arbor people there, there was a free excursión by the Ann Arbor road to its employés between Sheppard and Toledo. Whitmore Lake appeared to be as lively as if Barnum's circus had struck the town. At 1:30 the Light Infantry were marched over to a clover field, where they spent about three hours in drill. Guard was mounted and the sentinsls walked their beat for about an hour, the officers and non-commissioned officers acting as instructors. After that the company was formed into extended order drill, with Capt. Fischer in -command, Lieut. Armstrong in charge of the firing line and "Lieut. Granger in charge of the reserve. They skirmished for an hour, after which the company was again massed. The last hour was spent in regular company drill, taking in nearly all the company movements in the tactics. They went back to the lake, washed up and had their supper. At 7 o'clock the guests of the hotels were treated to a dress parade, the company being divided into Companies A and B, and a pretty sight it was. Among the outside military officers in attendance were Gen. Bowen, Col. Hemphill and Maj. Belser. Next Suflday the company is invited to attend divine services at Newberry Hall, conducted by Rev. W. L. Tedrow.
