Twq prominent business men of this city, went out to Zukey Lake ofte day last week to spend the day and incidí ntally, of eourse, to catclr some big iish. During the aïternoon while angljng ïor an abnormal piekel, the .clouds began to lower and the lightnings to flash. The breezeg nlso sprang up and comnienced playing with the waves, and the wafes in turn began to rock the boat, geitly at firfit, but more and more in earnest until the two gentlemen aforesaid bogan to realize that it miglit be safer on land than where they were. So both squared themselves, grasped the oars and comnienced pulling ior shore. It grew da,rker papddly, and the breeze kept increasing in intensity. Tlie stroke was increased, but some way the shore didn't appear ty grow nearer to the fisherinen ; the waves tossed the boat biit no traiji was left behind them as is iisual when two strong men are pulling at the oars. Sweat poured ir ooi every pore. and yet the boat evidently made little progrees. At last it was a.yreed that one shtiuld see if tlu'v ha;l ras i.i-. ■;:■.] impaled a whale or something, that was holding thcm back. What was the surprise of the stroke oar to find that they had noglected to pull up their anchor, and that in their frantic endeavor to reach terra lirma, it had loosened a half-acre or so of weeds which they were towing along. It is needless to say that the anchor was quickly brought in j and about the fastest time made for the club house that Island Lake ever j saw. Mr. Keech and Frank Allmendinger both, agreed not to teil aiiybody about it, and fust how the story got out is a mystery.
