Among thoee who arosc and voted no on the motion to nomínate him was Hou. Fxl. Bmltn, who was the ( íe velan d elector in this district in 1892. One delégate -wanted to know ii the convention had nominated a a populist uui asked that Mr. Barkworth's lefter to the populist eonvention be a-ead. For obvious reasons this was not done. Tliere are several thousand people in the district who have read the letter, however, and it will not be forgotten during the cainpaign. Fully one-third of the delegates remained fieated when the motion to nomínate Mr. tlarkworth by acclamation was made and of theni were so far anti-Barkworth as 1 (i riso and vote no. This is the record of a democratie convention and shows that there are many men in the party who are not yet prepared 60 go over to the populists, bodj and breeches."
