The young American bicyders who made a "tour of the world were granted an unusual honor -w-hen they completed their jouraey through China. Yiceroy Li-Hung-Cliang sent for tliem and accorded them a long Interview., which they wlll describe in the October number of the Century. Messers. Alleoi and Sachtleben give one of the best a.nd most vivid descrlptJons that have yet appeared of the man whom General Grant included aanong the three greatest statesmen of nis day, and ithe article is accompanied by a new rportrait of the prime minister from a photograph -vvhieh he presented them. IJ-Hung-Chang questioned the young men not only as to their journey, bnt asked their opiniĆ³n on international politics, especially as to the territorial pojicy of Kussia. There wlll also be printed in this nmnber of the Century a postliumous studj' by Major-General Jas. B. Fry on the character and career of General McClelan. General Fry believes that the latter's usefulness as a oommander was impaired by the fact that his mind Avas possessed by the belief that he was the "divinely ordained savior of his country."
