The resul ts of I lévela nrt's the United States pension department ander confedérate inüuenees ;u-e continually developing. The latest inBtance in Michigan is the case of Chauncey G. Cole, of Mendon, an old soldier, who endure the horrors of .Andersonvilie and Libby prisons. He has been notified that his pension will be reduce:! íroin $;0 a month to B17 a month at the end of 30 days unless he shows sufficient cause why it should not be done. While in the service he received an iujury to the back which in time rcsulted in paralysïs of the left side. He is totally deaf in the left ear nd the visión of the left eye is seriously impaired f'rom the effects of paralytic strokes, of which he has had three. His heart is affected, he has rheumatism and is a constant sufferer f rom an ificurable case of piles. He has for the past five or six years been under the care of a physieian, but having been reeently reporte:! sliji-htly improved the administration appears to have seized the oppoi-tunitv toinulct him. Sueh pi-oceedings on the part of the Democratic-con fedérate pension department show a fiendish hatred of the [ nion soldier. The latter has learned that he must meet with ballots this par the very same spirit which he so bravely met with builets in the liO's. The contest will be short, sharp and iecisive, and the victory will remain ivith the soldier and his true friends- the Republican party. At Sulphur. Ky.. fire swept away the entire central portion of the town, ?ntailing a loss of S100,000. Valuable time- Precious moinents.
