After three or four week's illness with inflaniatory rheumatism, death came to the relief oí Jerome A. Freeman, ithds, Saturday morning, at 10:30 o'clock, at his residence on Fuller street. His deatli will cause universal regret, not only among luis own people, but among our citizens in general, for he was a man that was well known and who commanded universal respect. Mr. Freeman was a nativo of New York, liaving been boi-ii in Geneva, about fortj--.six years ago. He was a son oí Anthony Freeman, who removed to this city in 1855, wben Jeronie was oaiiy se ven years of age. Tlie deceased had lived here ever since. Dui-ing the war Mr. man was very enthusiastic, and as sooii as the ,people of h:s race were permitted to shoulder a. musket, he did so, enlisting in the lst Michigan colored reg-iment, known as the 10l!d U. S. regiment of regulars. He was an. active member of the G. A. R's, and was past master in the local lodge of colored inasons. He was a communicant of St. Andrew's Episcopal chnrch, and his funeral will be iield trom that church Monday i. m., at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Henry Tatlock. . He leaves a wife and three children ín fairly comiortable circumgtancea.
