A Curious Timepiece

A cimeras Frencli timepiece is in the l'onn of a sunflcwër, whjch protrudes from :i M-liite crystal vas'e, graeeful in sha,pe and soberly decorated. The stalk is of brown gilt, the leaves green, the petals yëllow' and the heart of the flowe deeply oxidized. Hour and minute marks are enscraved around the heart o this flower, which faces the looker-on A lady-bird of spotted red enamelei gold apparently rests on the flower 01 the line divfding the heart from the petals. This pretty insect, which moves imperceptibïy by means of auiechanism hidden within the flower, shows the lime. By only a close inspection can one detect the time división on this original dial, which is granulated all over and is bluish-black. As to the hollow circular line on which the lady-bird travele, it is completely invisible.
