All over the state the women of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union tnet last night to pay a final tribute oí respect and love to the meinory of Mrs. Mary T. Lathrop, the late president of ,he state organization of the union, and a national leader in the counsels of the romen. In this city the memorial services were held in the Methodist church. fue white ribbon emblem of the W. C. T. U. was in evidehce throughout the large audience that gathered to particípate in the exercises. The ladies of ;he local union occupied seats in the i front of the church in a body. The program was carried out exactly as givenin Saturday's Courier. Mrs. Jennie Voorhies read a carefully prepared and interesting sketch of Mrs. Lathrop's career, dwelling especially upon her gospel and temperance work. Froui the age of ten years, when converted, Mrs. Lathrop spent her life in active work for the bêtterment of humanity. An inborn tiridity long held j her back from public wock, but when she broke througli the chains of self that bouud her, she entered upon a career of activity and usefulness that only death ended. Her motto was: "Not for self but humanity." Eev. E. Stoele and Mrs. Samuel drickson spoke of the jrospel work of Mrs. Lathrop in tbis city. She spent severul weeks liere at one time in revival work in the M E. cfiurch, at the end of which time over one hundred people joined the ine cliurch. The words of botli were jilowing tributes to the sound Christian worth of Mrs. Lathrop- Mrs. (.'luis. II. Worden read tlie tributes of lady Henry Somerset and Miss Francés E. Wiilar.l and Miss Anna Richards read a poeiu written bv Mrs. Lathrop. The exereisefi were greatly enjoyed by the large audience that ulinost filled the bhurch.
