Cold weather prevailed during the month of January. Snow feil in the early part of tlie month in suflScient amount to afford ?ood protection to the wheat plant. The average depth-of snow in the lower península on the 15th was about eight inches, andat the end of the month there had been no reductio'n. In reply to the question, "Has wheat during January suffered injury from any cause?" 192 corresponderás in the southern counties answer '"yes," and 295 "no;" in the central counties, 34answer"yes,' and 142 "no," ana in the northern counties eight answer "yes," and 90 "no." The total nuinber of bushels of wheat reported marketed by farmers in January, is 1,061,818, and in thesix months, August- January, 7,296,941, which is 1,952,971 bushels less than reported marketed last year. At twenty elevators and milis from which reports have been received, there was no wheat marketed during the month. The condition of live stock averages from 93 to 97 per cent, comparison being with stock in good healthy and thrifty condition.
