A inumber of the lovers and owners j oí feood horses went to Dexter I day, and enjoyed a speed matinee on ! tíie ice of the mili pond, where there is a splendid course foor racing1 purposes. The horses were divided into four classes, wtth $40 in purses. The irst race was by Ypéilnati horses, Hammond's equlne Almeda taking eecond ï)lace, against Platt's George. In the second race A. P. Ferguson and .Roy JIcClure, of this city, were pittied aga.inst eacli other, the alderman of the 4th ward upholdLns the honor of the ward in magnilicent sliape. In the 3d race JoHin V. N. Gregoiry, Owen Moore and. N. E. Sutton had their horses in coatest, Gregory taking first mbaiey and Moore second. The fourth race was between the flyrs of John O'K&ra, Frank Dunlavey tuid Gus. Brelim, the fiirat place being1 awarded to O'Haira and second to Brehjn.
