The late Henry O borne who was buried yesterday, liad a youuger brother committed to the nsane asylum, at Brattleboro, Vermont, bein:; sent there about ñl'ty years igo, by bis father before tliere were any asylunis of the kind in the western states. Henry Osborne, after the father's death, maintained liis brother tliere at an expense of several hundred dollars ier year, nnt il hefailed in business some three or four years a;jo, wheu he was unable to longer pay for the keeping. The case is a curioua one, and the Vermont authorities are in quandary over whiit to do wilh tlie patiënt. He bas been in the asylum about iifty years, being sent there before he was one yeara ot age. Alter lus brotlier failed and could 110 longer puy for his care, then lie became a public charge, hut to what county ? that was the question. The boy liad no reaidence here because he left here before becoming of age, and being an imnate of an asylum he could gain no residence there. The attorney general of Vermont has been takiug the case under advisement, but what decisión he has come to is not known. The authorities there daré uot send him here without authority to do so, as that is a serious offense. Judge Harriman who is familiar with the case, and a Yermonter also, thinka that the patiënt will eventually be sent here as a county charge. He thiuks, however, the Vermont authorities will present a bilí for Osborne's keeping, to the board of svpervisors here, and in that amicable way get a decisión from tbe courts as to wlio shall care for the patiënt. It is a rare case, a similar one, it is said, never having been known in our courts of law.
