Dean Vaughán and wife gave a receptiou last evening to the University senato in their liome on South State street. Judge Cooley will lecture to-morrow afternoon in University hall, provided he is able, on the subject of "Nullification." The lecture will be at 4 o'clock. Aniiounceuients will be made to-morrow. Dr. Washington Gladden, of Columbus, Ohio, will speak in the lecture room of Tappan hall tliis evening at 8 o'clock on "City Government." He lectures under the auspices of the Ilistorical club. The March North American Review contaxns two articles by Michigan graduates : "Two years of Democratie Diplomacy," by Senator Cushman K. Davis, '57, and "The Danger of the Federal Judiciary," by Henry Wollman, law'78. - Michigan Alumnns. There will be a general social in Kewberry hall next Saturday evening. An excellent program is being arranged, including a solo by Mrs. W. W. Beman, a talk by Dean Yaughan for the medies, one by Prof. Thompson for the laws, and a thiid by Prof. Carhart for the lits. The committee appointed to revise the S. C. A. constitution, so as to permit th-e co-eds to carry on their work more independently, and also the boys, will report at the meeting to-morrow evening. Prominent men are suspeoteu as instigators of the outrage. The Daily Cardinal gives the following account of Wisconsin's team forthis season: Twelve men have been chosen to keep in training from which the nine for each game will be selected. The record as kept by the scorer for the past two weeks has been the criterion by which the men have been selected. Batting percentage, stolen bases toone's credit, ability to get their bases on balls, fielding, have all been taken into consideration. The following men are the successjul ones, but if their future work isnot up to the standard they will be replaced by others : John Gregg, catcher; Louis Runkei, pitcher; Nelson Falk, pitcher and flrst base; C. B. Hay den, pitcher; Frank Wheelihan, seoond base ; C. F. Kummel, short stop ; Charles Freeman, third base; Guy Ford, left field ; McCabe, left field ; Irving Towle, center field ; Willet Spooner, center field; M. S. Dudgeon, right field.
