Next Satnrday will occur a meeting of the friends of the TTniversity and many prominent Aiin Arbor ladies to consider the question of the contemptated woman's gymnasium. Concerning the meeting the Free Press says: "The Detroit branch of he Collegiate Alumnae Associatiou hae mited with acommittee of Detroitladies o present the subject to the public hrough the medium of a literary and ocial afternoon arranged for May 11 , at -i p. m., at which time it is hoped it may be possible to secure the attendance of a arge number of men. The Obamber of Commerce has generously given the use of its new and beautiiul hall for the occasion, and many of Detroit's fairest matrona and maids will be present to make the event what it deserves to beau honor to the university and an ineen-, tivetothe cause of woman's work where. "The program will comprise musical numbers as well as short papers, presenting the physical and social necessities of a gymnasium at Ann Arbor by two of the University aluinnae,Dr. Mary Thompson Stevens and Mrs. Sunderland, wife of the Unitarian clergyman at Ann Arbor. Miss Winefred Lane, of Detroit, will present the ideal side of the question- what it is hoped the contemplated building may be. The flnancial statement up to date will also be given. The presence ot the wife of the president of the university, Mrs. JamesB. AngelĂ­, will leudan additional rharm to the social features of the afternoon, and it is hoped that there will be a large contingent of professors' wives, many of whom are alumnafe, and some of the undergraduates."
