Mr. Geo. Wood presented the Courier editor this morning with a copy of "The Lincoln, Kutland and Stamford Mercury," dated Friday, Dec. 6, 1810, and Xo. 4472 of Yol. 85. Mr. AVood believes this paper to be the oldest newspaper in EƱgland. His father and brother have taken the paper ninety years in succession. The paper is a six column folio. One curious thing about it is that there are no display advertisements, the advertisement business not haviug vet evoluted so far as it has now. The price of the paper is 7 pence, of which 4d. are stamp duty and "paper and print" 3d. There are no editorials and a large part of the sheet seems to be taken up with bankrupt notices.
