The wonderful success of Music Festival shows that the people are hungry 'or the best music. ITniversity Hall when built was one of the largest auditoriums in the country, but now it is too small for the great gatherings which tax it. Itis too small for commeneement, or even for the studente, when they all gather together. We must look to the musical society, which has not failed in any undertaking so far, to furnish an auditorium large enough to hold the great meetings which assemble. With that and a good hotel Ann Arbor could attract state and national conventions. One like the Chautauqua assembly hall could be erected at a cost of $12,000 or $15,000 to hold six thousand people. It is a most valuable thing to this city to have these May festivals and we should see to it that they can be accommodated for if they are not the festivals will either have to be discontinued orhigher prices for tickets charged. The latter would cut dowu the attendance, thus reducing their value to the town. ïo other tliing will so advertise Ann Arbor as a model residence town than to have all these well-to-do people come here. The official title of the governor of RliCHdie Islaaid is "Governor, Captain General and 'Commander iu Chief of and. over all tbe staite of Rhode Isla.ml and Providence Plantations." Quite a ■voliiminious titlo for a little wee state. President Cleveland is said to be oppoised to thO callimg of an extra sessiom öf (the repoiblicaa congress to provide relief for itlie treasury. That is probably ti-ue1. He hnows tluit the repabUcan remedies Avill be diïücult to sua'.'.ow, and hu Avante to pub off tthe taking of thein as long as possiWe.
