Those Counterfeit Tickets
The Courier spoke last night of counerfeit tickets being in circulation for the May Festival. A thorough examination of all the tickets discloses the fact that there were just two of theni. One of these tickets was a very ingenous affair. It was the work of a penmau, equal in all particulars to the amous "Jim, the Penman." Tlie imitation of the original was so exact ,hat it took a close inspection to detect the frand. The fellow who did it certainly éarned bis $1. But the question naturally suggests itself, if he would counterfeit a ticket for this affair, would ie stop there? Is he not on a straight road to state prison, unless he stops ïght where he is? The ot.her ticket was a "doctored" one. Some one had taken a Max Heinrich concert ticket and colored or stained ;he front so as to resemble the color of the Saturday night tickets, and on the jack he had pasted a thin paper of similar color, making a very good counter'eit to be used when there was a rush at the doors, which was about all the ;ime. Next j'ear, Prof. Wines informs us, the tickets will be such that the schemers will have a considerable more difficulty in playing sharp tricks on the door keepers.
