EI) TO A WESTERN INI VKRSITY. W. F. Edwards, instructor in physical chemistry in the university for the past few years, has been appointed professor of physics in the University of Washington, at a salary twice as large as he has been receiviug here. Mr. Edwards is one of the brightest young men in this line of research that the university has liad for sonie years. LEFT THE ASSOCIATION". Michigan is no longer a member of the Western Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association. At the meeting of the Athletic Board last evening, the action of the Association relative to Hall and LeRoy was taken up and discussed at length. The opinión seemed to be pretty unanimous that tliis institution bas had enough of the Association, and the vote taken on Michigan's furtlier membership in the league w s expressive of that opinión. The vote was unanimous. Tliis is doubtless the right way to settle the matter, for there can le no doubt that Michigan was imposed upon at Chicago, and on he face of the proceedings they are ridiculous, unjust and unworlhy the inspiration of college men. It is uot surprising, from what is already known of Wisconsin's actions to wards Michigan, that her hand has been most evident in the whole affair. Michigan will hereafter send her track team to the Mott-IIaven gaines. ,
