A few day's since a man from the up1er penkisnla came to the city with a very badly diseased eye, expecting to e treated at the University Hospital. Je had just ten dollars in his pocket to )ay his way a couple of weeks in the ïospital, and in that time the physieians told liim he would be ahle to return ïome. When he found out that the hospitals veré closed, and that he could uot be ireated here, his disappointment was eally pitiful. And tliis case is only ne of many that have occurred. Would it not have been wise for the egents to have kept the hospitals pened during the summer season? Ve are told that last summer Ihe exense of running was only $67 over reeipts. We are also told that the hoslitals have turned into the general fund ome $3,000 or $4,000 proflt during the chool year. If these statements are rue, the regenta would riot have been cnoved by a desire to economize in closng them, for taking all things' together t would have paid to have kept them unning.
