Editor Coürier : I have noticed with pleasure the suggestion that a monument be erected to the memory of the late Dr. Corydon L. Ford, the funds to be raised by private subscription. Although, as Dr. Stroud, of Sandusky, suggests, it should come from the medical fraternity, yet I believe the citizens of Ann Arbor would be greatly interested, and should take hold of the enterprise with much enthusiasm, as Dr Ford did a great deal for the University aud in that way for the city of Ann Arbor. As the citizens of Ann Arbor have shamefully neglected their public parks and have really suppüed no oases or public breathing spots, I would suggest that this monument be located ia the center of what is nowcalled Felch park It would perhaps be the means of cali ing the attention of the city governmen to the neglected condition of that public square, and secure its improvement - a thing very much needed. Then, in the course of time, other monumeuts might follow. The reverec Dr. Tappan, might, possibly, have a column erected to his memory, and the day will certainly come when a statue of the present chancellor will gracesome portion of our city. And the good and wise Dr. Frieze Whai of him? AVell, a magniflcent building will, in the not distant future, be]erected to accommodate the growing demands of the University School ol Music, and it shall be a monument to the beloved memory of that man whose life was a harmony of wise counsels, beautiful thoughts, and sweet expressions. Ann Arbor should act upon Dr. Stroud' s suggestion. All it needs is some one to lead. "Wlio shall it be ? Verv truly yours, Alumnus.
