James Murnan, the popular day clerk it tlie Cook House, handed the followng clipping to us. It is taken from the ittle Falls N. Y. Times, and records a 'eat in railroading that is sirnply remarkable : "A f eat in railroading was performed 3aturday on this section of the New York Central, which, though not unErequently paralleled on this most effi:ient and speedy of roads, is certainly 3alculated to make one wonder. The wat was nothing less than the accomplishment by the great Empire State Express of a distance of 148 miles in 140 minutes, something scarcely possible, witb safety, to a less thoroughly governed and mechanically perfect road . "The Empire arrived in Syracuse Saturday afternoon forty-one minutes late, was delayed Uiree minutes by its 3top at Utica, and four minutes in this city by accommodation train No. 72, but arrived in Albany at 7 :08, having mad e the 148 miles from Syracuse in 140 minutes, this of course being actual running time with stops deducted. Such moving across country for such a distance is enough to convince any oíd time obstructionist that we of the present day are actually "flying" into the face of Providence. "Oíd 888, the railroader's criterion of excellence, had Jacob Yrooman of Schenectady at the throttle and was flred by Peter VVagner of St. Johnsville, both of whom feel justifiable pride in the latest aehieveraent of their iron steed."
