The Detroit Animal Conference of the "Methodist Episcopal church which neets in Aun Arbor during the weck }egmning Sept. 10 will be one of the most important and most largely attended the Church has had for raany years. Bishop John F. Hurst, D. D., LL. D., )f Washington D. C, will act as president of the confrence. Bishop Hurst s one of the best known and most popular bishops in the Cliurch and the announcement that he will be present and will preside during the whole session will be received with great pleasure by ill who expect to attend. The present session of the conference will be exceptionally busy. In the first ilace there will be here over 350 lay delegates, in addition to the 250 ministerial delegates, Every charge sends one lay delégate. Two lay delegates will be chosen by the conference to go to the general conference of the Church n Cleveland during the month of May. The lay conference is held in connection with the ministerial conference every 'our years. One of the other important questions which will come before this conference at Ann Arbor will be the instruction of delegates to the general conference with regard to the proposed admission of women to a seat and voice ra the general conference. The following is the complete program as prepared for conference week. TUESDAY, SEPT. 10. 7 toS p.m. -Informal reception toall the memIers of the Conference by the Official Board. 8p. m.- Lecture, "What a Tramp Saw in the Emerald Isle," by Rev. J. F. Berry, D. D., of Chicago. WKDNE8DAY. 9 a.m.- Opening of lst day's session of conference. 2 p. m.„Semi-Centenuial sermón by Rev. Seth Reed. 3 p. m.- Visit to Univei'sity buildings. 7:30 p. m.- Anniversary of Superannuated Preachers Aid Society to be addressed by Rev Dr. Whittaker, of Detroit. THl'RSDAY. Forenoon. - Business session. Afteruoon, 2o'clock.- Anniversary of YV. F. M. S. Address by Miss Mary A. Danforth, Missionary from Japan. Evening. - Educational Aüniversary to be addressod by President Fiske ajul Dr. Edwards. ïliis will be followed by consecraiton deaconesses. FRIDAY. Foreuoon.- Business session. 3 p. m.- Anniversary of Yv. II. M. S., to be addressed by Prof. Henrietta Bancroft of Albion College. 5 p. m.- Free Organ Recital at Universitv Hall on Columbian Organ, ,by Prof. York, of Detroit. 7:30 p. m.- Anniversary of Freedman's Aid Society, addressed by Rev.
