A noted divine recently said in a sermón concer'ning the newspaper profession : Oue of the greatest trials of the newspaper profession is that its members are compelled to see more of the sham of the world tlian any other professioa. Through every newspaper office day after day go all the weakness of the world - all the vanities that . want to be puffed, all revenges that want to be reaped, all the mistakes that want to be corrected, all the dull speakers that want to be thought eloquent, all the meaness that wants to get its wares noticel gratis in order to save the tax of the advertising column, all men who want to be set right who were never right, all the crack brained philosopbers with stories as. long as their hair and as gloomy as the finger nails in the inorning bereft of soap, all the bores who come to stay flve minutes and stay flve hours. Through the editorials and reportaríais rooms all the follies and shams of the world are seen day after day, and the temptation is neither to believe in God, man or woman. It is no surprise to me that in this profession there are some skeptical. I only wonder that newspaper men believe in anything,
