Betweeu four and five o'clock yesteriliiy afternoon the examination of Pat Boyle in the Clancy inquest was concluded. This closed the public examination and the jury retired to consider the testimony and prepare a verdict. At a quarterof six the jury returned and by their foreman, Postmaster Beakes, reported the following verdict: "Frank Clancy, deceased, came tohis death on Tuesday, August 6, 1895, at about 8 o'clock a. in., at the Washtenaw County house, township of Pittsfleld, from a blow upon the head or neck sustained in the city of Toledo, Ohio, on or about Saturday evening, August 3, 1895, inflicted by person unknown to the jury. "The jury are also of the opinión that, owing to the negligence or iuefficiency of the Toledo Pólice Department the many clues whicli have arisen in the case have not been investigated to an extent that would enable the jury to positively fix the responsibility for the injuries sustained by the said Frank Clancy upon any particular person."
