Decatur, 111., aas not gone crazy 011 the subject of Dicycle riding, but it is perhaps safe to say that there is nc other city of 30,000 inhabitants in Illinois where so many wheels are in everyday use. There are half a dozen little tots who seem scarcely big enough to walk to be seen every day on bicycles, and there is any number oí gray-haired men who ride constantly as a matter of business and pleasure. Among the latter there is one especially who has attracted attention here, belause he is the best known of all the aged men who have taken to the wheel. He is Dr. W. J. Chenoweth. He is past 71 years of age, but preserves to a wonderful degree his health and vigor. He is still actively engaged in a lucrative practice in this field, where he has been engaged almost for a lifetime. This summer was the first season he attempted to acquire the art of riding a bicycle, but he admits that for several years he had given the matter serious consideration and always told himself that "next week" bs would buy a wheel. In this way he let two summers slip by, and finally concluded that the only way to begin was to begin. As oon as daylight comes any pleasant morning he may be seea out for a spin, nd as a general thing he does six, ight or ten miles before breakfast. He s quite enthusiastic on the subject and egards it not as a fad, but as a manner f locomotion eminently practical.
