TURNER, Auditor General. YOUNC MRS. SUMMER. Young Mrs, Summer. one day In October, Decided her home to refurnish anew; For the reds were toö brlght, browns were too sober, Yellows had wlthered, and greems faded from view. She sent for the wind, and asked him most sweetly To sweep off the trees, and cut evey flower. To brush clean the grass, andsmooth it all neatly And freshen tlie gardens by sending a Bhower. Young Mrs. Summer is tall, fair and state'y; Her favorito color has always been green: Her beautiful home, until very lately, Was furhished and draped initsshimmerlnasheen. The wind with a will worked, eager and steady. But raised such a dust that the birds liew away ; The butterflies, too- and when all was ready, He went to My Lady, and asked for nis pay. Young Mrs. Summer, when payment was over. Had little to purebase her favorlt.e green; The birds were all gone, the bees and the elover. And everything round lookedsocheerless and clean ! She went to the sky to do all her shopping And.stepped to a counter where bargalns were ïow; And there, with much care, and thinking and stopping, She bought a white dimity- we cali 1 snow. Young Mrs. Summer, with brisk, busy fin gers, Then covers the bareness with drapings o white, Next sends for Jack Frost, and nota day lingers, But starts fof the South by the first traii thatnlgüt. There she will work through the long sim ny hours. And Bachelor Jack will look after he home; She soon can buy green, and then with her flowers Sweet young Mrs. Summer will back again roam. -Alma Francls McCollom, in New York Independent.
