Aíter getting ia they went to the sale and finding it loeked, twisted the handle or knob off the safe door and filled the opening with dynamite, whkh Itliey exploded. The charge must liavie been larger than was intonded, tor it made a loud report, tore the safe door all to pdeces, and moved the safe wtth 500 pouads of flour that was stoned on top of ït, some three or föur feet. Two watcbmen happened to le in front of thie store ftt the time, and one ï-emained at the froat door, while another hastened to the back door, liut befare he coxdd reach there the thieves had takon thO alarm and iled in the darkness. They d.id not have time to open the Inside safe door and take money that waa in there, some $200, but were oWiged to fiee with only a oouple of dollars sccared from the cash drawer af the desk which they broke open. It -was a daring piece of work and one that will test the detective abilLty of our officers.
