The idea that this great. ricli nation, with plenty and wlth wonder.ul resources, should be borrowing money in times of peace ! What the present congress should do is to change the law so that no syndicate can control American go'd, ñor control the American taiiff. A protective tariff with reciprocity, and a return to a combined silver and gold basis Is what the people want. They do not desire legislation in favor oí Wall street or oF the Rothschilds syndicate trat they do want legislation in favor of the great masees of the American republic, and they want a protective tariff that protecte the laborer and manufacturer, together with reciprocity provisions that will bring an exchange of goods to our doors. This one Bided affair, where we pay all money for what we buy of England and other foreign nations is fast ruinLnr the country. The quicker cong:-ess recognize3 this fact the better, not on' y for the people, but for congres?, also. The Howell Repubilcan tells this of an industrial institution in that place which is a great help to the f armere thereabouts : "The milk factory is flooded, not with water iiut with milk. The amount received has increased to neaiiy 70,000 pounds and the factory has to run day and night to condense it. Arrangements may be made to send a part of the milk to the branch factory at Lansing. As soon as the capacity is doub'ed they will be all right again."
