Aun Arbor high school studente takes place Friday evening in the hall. "Work on the Woman's gymnasium is progressing. The excavation has been completed and foundation -vvalls are being laid. The present council wlll hold ite last meeting on Thursday cvening, when it wlll canvass the election returns of Monday and decide the ties. The piles of caal ashes ont he north side of the opera house are very aesthetic indeed- quite charming in fact adding much in the beauty of that street. Prof. I. E. Ruseell of the University read a paper before the national geographical society, In Washington, D. C, on "A Journey to the Interior of Alaska." The wide awake merchant and the wide awake buyer ge-t together by means of the newspaper. The paper is a sort of a board of trade, on which the merchante place their offerings ana the people have the opportunity of seetng wfaat there is in the market. Those merehants who place their offerings therein find buyers, and tihose buyers who take the local paper find avIio the merchante ar that have something to sell.
