Republican State Convention. Detroit, Mich., Feb. 21st, 1896. To the Republican Electors of the State of Michioo. The State Convention of the Republicans of Michigan is hereby called to meet at the Auditorium, Detroit, on Thursday, May 7th, 1896, at 12 o'cloek noon, for the purpose of nominating fourteen (14f electors of President and V President of the United States, and etecting four delegatesat-large and four altérnate delegates-at-large to the Republican National Convention to be held at St. Louis, Mo., June 16, 1896. Also for the purpose of selectlng a chairman of the State Central Committee and two members thereof for each congressional district and the transaction of such othor business as may properly come forward. Under the cali of the National Republican Committee, eacli congressional district is entitled to two delega tes and two altérnate delegates to the National Convention, which detegates sliall be chosen at District Conventlonn, held wilh not less than twenty ('20)days' public notice, and not les than tliirty (30f days before the meeting of ihe National Conven tion. The delégales from the several eounties in each congressional district are requested to meet in District caucus at 10:;i0 o'cloek a. m., on the day of the State Conventton, and select caodldates as follows, to be preaented to the Btate Convention for conñrmation: Two members of the State Central Committee, one Vice-Presldent, one Asslslant secretary, one member each of the committee on "Credentlals," Permanent Organizatlon and order of Business" and 'Resolutlous," and to transact suchother business as they may deern necessary. Under the resolution of 1858, no delégate wlll beentltled to a seat In the convention who does not reside in the county he proposes represent. In accordance wlth the resolution of 1876, every county will be entitled to one delégate for each flve hundred of the total vote cast for Govenorat the last state election (November 1894), and one addltional delégate for every fraction amounting to three hundred, but each organlzed county will be entitled to at least two (2) delegates. In compllance wilh the resolutions adopted in Detroit, June23d, 1890, the secretary of each County Convention is urged to forward to the secretary of the State Central Committee, Detroit, by the earllest mail aft r the delegates to the State Convention be chosen, a certifled list of such delegates as are eutltled to seats In the State Convention from their respective conntles. Tnis committee requests tbat the several eounties select their County Committees for the ensulng two years at the County Con ventions which elect delegates to the State Convention hereby called, and that theorganlzation and membership of such County Committees, together with thenostofflee addresses be at once forwarded to the Secretary of the State Central Committee at Detroit, in order that early and systematic work be begun and carrled on through the coming campalgn.
