Detroit, Mich.. Feb 21st,1896. To the Ecpublican Electora o.f the State of Michigan. The State Convention of ihe Republicana of Michigan Ís hereby called lo meel at the Auditorium, Detroit, on Thursday, May 7th 1896, at 12 o'clock noon, for the purpose of nominatiug fourteen (U( electora of President, and Vice -President of the United States, and eleeting four delegutesat-large and lour altérnate delegates-at-large to the Republiean National Convention to be neld at St. Louis, Mo..June 18,1896. Also for the purpose of selecting a ohalrman nf the State Central Committee and tw mnmbers thereof for each congressional distriet and the transaction of such other bustuess as mary properly come forward. Under the cali of the National Repnblican Committee, each congressional dis: riel is entitled to two delegates and two altérnate delegates to the National Conventlon, wl:ich delegates shall be chosen at District Conventions, held with not less thantwenty(20)days' public notlce, and not less than thirty (30, days before the meeting of the National Conven tion. The delegates from the several couuties in each congressional district are reqiiested to meet In District caucus at 10:30 o'olock a. m., on the day of the State Convenllon, and select caDdidates as follows, to be presented to the State Conventlon for conflrmation: Two members of the State Ce.iVral Committee, one Vice-President, one Assistant -ecretary one member each of the committee on "( redentials," Permanent Organization and order of Business" and ' Resolutions," and to transact such other business as they may deern necessary. Under the resolution of 1858, no delégate will be entitled to a seat in the convention whodoes not reside in thecounty he proposes represent. In accordance with the resolution of 1876, every county will be entitled to one delégate for each five hundred of the total vote cast forGovenorat the last state election 'November 189-1), and one nddltional delégate for every fraction amounting to three hundred, but each organlzed county will be entitled to at least two (2) delegales In compliance with theresohitions adopted in Detroit, June23d, 1890, the secretary of each County Convention is urged to forward to the secretary of the State Central Committee, Detroit, by "the earliest mail aft' r the delegates to the State Convention be chosen, a certifled list of such delegates as are entitled to seats in the State Convention from thetr respective connties. This committee requests that the several counties select their County Committees lor the ensuing two years at the County Conventions which elect delegates to the State Conventiou hereby called, and that theorganization and membership ol such County Dommittees, together with the nostoflice addresses be at once forwarded to the Secretary of the State Central Committee at Detroit, in order that early ad systematic work be begun and carried onthrough the coming campaign.
