Republiean State Convention. Detroit, Mich.. Feb. 21st, 1896. To the Republiean Electora o] the State oj Michigan. The State Convention of tlie R.-publieans of Michigan Is hereby called lo meel at the Auditorium, Detroit, ou Thursday, May 7th. 1896, at 12 o'cloek noon, for the purpose of nomlnating fourteen (H( electors of President, and Vice-President of the United States, aud electing fonr delegatesat-large and four altérnate delegates-at-large to the Kepublican National Convention to be neld at St. Louis, Mo.. June 16, ISSKi. Also for the purpose of selecting a chairinan of the State Central Committee and two members thereof for eaeh congressional district and the transactioii of such other business as may properly come forward. Under the cali of the National Republiean Committee, eaeh congressional district is entitled to two delegates and two altérnate delegates to the National Convention, which delegates shall be chosen at District Conventlons, heldwithnot less than twenty(20)days' public notlce, and not less than thirty (30, days before the meeting of the National Convention. The deiegates from the several counties in eaeh congressional district are requested to meet in District caucus at 10:30 o'clock a. m., on the day of the State Convention, aud select caüdidates as follows, to bepresented to the State Convention for conflrmation : Two members of the Stale Central Committee, one Vice-President, oue Asststant secretary, oue member eaeh of the committee on "Credentials," Permanent Organization and order of Business" and 'Resolutions," and to transact such other business as they may deern necessafy. Under the resolution of 1858, no delégate will beentitled to a seat in the convention who does not reside in thecouuty he proposes repref ent. In accordance with the resolution of 1876, every county wlll be entltled to one delégate for eaeh flve hundred of the total vote cast for Govenor at the last state election (November 1894), and oue addltional delégate fór every fraction amounting to three hundred, but eaeh organized county will be entitled to at least two (2) delegates. In compliance with the resolutions adopted in Detroit, June23d, 1890, the secretary of eaeh County Conveution is urged to forward to the secretary of the State Central Committee, Detroit, by the earllest mail aftfr the delegates to the State Convention be chosen, a certified list of such delegates as are entitled toseats in the State Convention from their respective connties. This committee requests that the several counties select their County Committees lor the ensuing two years at the County Conventions which elect delegates to the State Convention hereby called, aud that the organization and membership of such County Conimittees, together with the nostoffice addresses be at once forwarded to the Secretary of the State Central Committee at Detroit, in order that early and systematic work be begun and carried on through the coming campaign.
