Prof. Peter Collier, Ph. B., a brotherin-law of President. James B. Angelí, died at his rooms 38 S. Ingalls st. , on Monday morning, of heart tronble, aged 00 years. Mr. Collier had complained of heart tronble for two or tbree days, but no immediate danger was apprehended. ün Mouday morning he sat down in his chair, pnt on his glasses and picked up a newspaper. His wife who was in the same room all the time, thought he was reading. He remaiued so still, howover, that she finally thought he was asleep, when not finding him breathing she went over to him andjfound that he was dead. Brief funeral services were held over the remains at the residence of President Angelí on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Henry Tatlock officiating. The pall bearers were Profs. Prescotfc, D'Ooge, Demmon, Pettee, Stanley and Patterson. The remains were taken to Providence, R. I., on Tuesday evening for internaent. Prof. Collier graduated at Yale in 1861. He has sucoessively held the position of professor of chemistry and pbysics in the University of Vermont, chemist of the national department of agrioulture and director of the New York experiment station at Geneva, N. Y. He was a man of eminent scientiflo atfcainments, and of great force of character. He was born in Chittenago, N. Y. , 60 years ago. He married Miss Caroline F. Angelí, sister of President Angelí, who survives him. His only daughter is attending the university.
