The Daily Times of yestenlay had the following account of the regular sessiou of the council Mondny evening: Tlie meeting was called to order ly President Hiscock. Quorum present. Absent, Aid. Kocli. Aid. Soule came in a few minutes after tlie meeting had come to order. The board of public works recommended the ïiurchase of two wheel scrapers. The reeommendation was unanimously concurred in. The board of public works recommended that the council take steps to establish a Street and sidewalk grade on the following named streets and avenues: Chapin st., between Hurou st. and Miller ave.; Spring st, betweeu Miller ave. and Chubb road; N. Fourth ave., between Beakes and Depot sts. Referred to street and sidewalk committees. The board of public works reco-mmended that the watering trough on Miller ave., near First st., be connected with the water mains as the present supply of water is not sufficient. The reeommendation of the board was concurred in. Permission was granted the board of education of School District No. 1 to use the second story of the Sixth ward engine house as a school room, as there is a great necessity for additional room for schools in that part of tlie city. The petition of numerous citizens to have the alley running partly through Wock No. 3 on Hurón st. extended from Liberty st. to William st., was referred to the street commitee. The committee on finauce would recommend that the city lease the city building site on the corner of E. Huro.'i st and S. Fifth ave. to Louis Rohde for one year at $10 per morith. Reeommendation was adopted. The street committee recommended :hat the dirt on the north drive of S. University ave., between Ingalls and Twelfth sts., be moved over to fill in ;he south drive between the same localities; and that the board of public works be instructed to have sueh street graded so that the grade on the two sides of S. University ave. will be uniform. The recommendaion was adopted. The following couneilmen voted for improving the same: Moore, Grossman, Dell, Shadford, Rhodes, Coon, Soule, Danforth, Pres. Hiscock. The following aldermen voted against the iuiprovement: Maynard, Cady, Burke, Brown, Laubengayer. A poplar tree in front of the residence of A. HainmoDd and a willow tree on Ashley st, at the crossing of the Ann Arbor road, were ordered cut down. The street commissioner was ordered to cut down the lawn extensión in front of 22 and 26 Packard st. at least one inch below the established sidewalk grade. He was also instructed to finish the grading on Walnut st. The sum of ?19,47ti.G3 is on cleposit to the credit of the city of Ann Arbor at the Ann Arbor Savings Bank. The report of the street committee relative to macadamizing Detroit st. was voted down as follows: Yeas - Aid. Moore, Dell, Burke, Brown, Shadford, IUiodes, Pres. Hiseock; nays Aid. Mayaard, Grossman, Iaubengayer, Coon, Soule, Cady, Danforth. After this resolution to macadamize ietroit st. had thus been lost by a tie vote, the project was resurrected by a motion to reconsider, which was caried. Then Aid. Moore_got a resoluion passed referring the matter to the oard of public works for estimates s to cost, etc, and also to ascertain f it would be possible to have the treet car tracks taken off Detroit st. nd run to Main st. from the depot by vay of Beakes st.
