The board of public works at a special meeting Saturday awardod the contract for constrncting the William st. sewer to the firru of Sharp & Schulz, of Port Huron. The lxmd to se presented to the eoinmon eouucil Monday nigbt is to have Ann Arbor sureties. In the construction of Ihe sewer Ann Arbor 1" boren are to be hired, the contractors having the privilege of employing ten expert laborers. The tax assessment will be about $15 per $1,000 valuation. The bids presented were as follows: Schneider Bros., Ann Arbor, $10,340.59; 3. A. Mercier, Detroit, $12,127.28; Muir & O'Sullivan, Port Huron, S13.080.C9; lladlam & Fink, Goshen, Ind., $14,943.06; D. E. Sullivan, Columbus, O., $13,710.95; Carlisle & Keid, Port Huron, $10,674.34; Sharp & Schultz, Port Huron, $9,453.73; Devlen & Scott, Port Huron, $14,148; Beek, HUI, Miesmer & Stevenson, Port Huron, $12,834.44. S. J. Tomlinson for mauy years the thirfty publisher of the Lapeer Clarion, and later proprietor of the Detroit Journal, has got back into the harness again, having bought the half interest of Mr. Kimball in the Poutiac Gazette.
