Natural Dentistry
A curious íossil that bears a fantastic resemblance to the work of some prehistorie dentist is mentioned in areceut book, "The Gold Diggings of Cape Hora." An aequaintance of the author's, a journey from the Strait of Magullan up thecoast, stopped under a vertical earth bank to pick outafossil that he saw protruding. The relie preved to be part of a mastodon's lower jaw, with two teeth still ín place. As it was in bad condition he was about to throw it away, when he saw in a split in the top and side of one tootb. a bit of soine foreign substanee. This turned out to be gold, and, as the finder believes, must have been deposited in fine grains by Ihe action of the water.
