The name of Andrew Campbell of Wasbtenaw county has been mentioned as a possible republican candidate for the state senate from the district composed of Jackson and Washtenaw counties. The nomination and election of Mr. Campbell would insure to the people of the entire state a representative in the senate who could be absolutely relied upon as proof againat unworthy favor or improper influences. For our party's sake aud in behalf of all the interests of our state with which the next state senate will have to do we sincerely hope that Andrew Campbell will be nominated and elected. - Cadillac News and Express. There is no doubt about the truth of the assertion that Mr. Campbell would be proof against unworthy motives. Washtenaw has a large number of just such men among other names mentioned for the place is that of Hon. Amariah F. Freeman, of Manchester. This gentleman has stood by the party in sickness and in health-party sickness we meanand is a man who is notonly thoroughly honest and incorruptible but well equipped and one who would take a prominent position in that body. If Mr. Smith, of Jackson, who is by party usage entitled to a renomination if he wants it, decides to draw out of the contest, Mr. Freeman would not only be a worthy successor, bnt one who has a claim upon the party for past services, and there ought to be such a thing in this world as political gratitude.
