Ed. Codbieb : Tlie needie Work Guild is now nctively engaged collecting garments for the animal distribution on the li'th of November. Enthusiasm in the work seems unabated, and súch a large nuniber of voluutary offerings s made as to show the esteem in which the work is held by the people. l,J00new garments were donated last year, and given out to our own poor according to the best judgmënt of the otficers of the Gerild. The giving of substautial, new garnents appeals to the good sense of everyoue and enables the Guild to nake warm and conjfortable many a shivering boy or girl - and tlie thought'ulness of our merchants in donating shop-worn cloaks and jackets has been of great assistance in clothing school ■liildi-en comfortably. 1 desire to assure tlie kind people who contribute to this store of garments, that the 'reatest care is taken in distributing thein. In the ürst place beggare, who come to the door, are never given clothing unless they are vouched foriy some responsible person, and their wants specified. Poor families are visited, needs disco vered and garments itted as far as possible. This takes time, but it is the only way to realize the full value of such a collection, and the work is done cheerfully. The register, containing names of 'amilies and individuals assisted by ;he Guild can be exaniined at any time ay anyone who desires to do so. It has aeen a great pleasure to unfortunate families, who found themselves in want ihrough sickness or lack of work, and were thus tided over a hard winter and made to realize what a good and cheering thing is brotherly kindness. It is a beautiful eharíty and it is hoped that many who have never given before wfll be prompted to give two new garments this year and so increase the membership and usefulness of the Guild. - Mus.
